The Wheelchair Speed Restrictor prevents wheelchairs from accelerating to unsafe forward and backward speeds. This patent pending device consist of a pair of resistant pads that apply drag to the large wheels. The amount of drag is adjustable to apply from a slight amount to substantial resistance. This results in the wheelchair only moving when manually propelled and eliminates menacing freewheeling. This device will fit most wheelchairs from full to hemi heights, any width and will allow the wheelchair to collapse. The speed restrictor is made from heavy gage chrome plated steel and all moving parts are covered for a safe and clean appearance. This device may also be considered by therapy departments for strength training.
